Ayeesha's Autumnal Eyes was kind of like nothing I have read before! The author has a very interesting writing style, and I sped through it. An aspect I enjoyed a lot was its strong sense of place - the setting was very evocative and beautifully written in parts.
It is a smart read - it doesn't patronise the reader and the dialogue is fast and clever. Sometimes a little too clever, and I had to re-read parts or check back, but that is always fine with me! Recommended. Would read more by this author.
A great & oh so refreshing love story ! Ayeesha's character made me hungry, literally ! Or was it hungry for more ? Zanny love ,with crusty & fully developed characters which filled the pages with color. Soltysik's use of words, after much thought, made me aware that there could be no better way to describe the scene or the mood. Semantic mastery ! I found the characters swirling around in my head long after I have read his written words, entertaining ! Ayeesha's Autumnal Eyes was a book that I wanted to read...in slow motion ! Or again !

Ayeesha's Autumnal Eyes was, for me, a damn good read. Seventyish protagonist, widowed artist, Crandell Polski, loses control of a beloved painting, pairs up with a wild-woman soul-mate and fellow painter, more paintings go missing, and happy chaos ensues. The couple and a supporting cast of characters that cover the spectrum from wise/good to dumb/evil drew me deep inside the Oz-like world of Santa Barbara, California. The pace is frenetic, the writing streamlined and clever, the journey well worth taking.
The author writes with a keen wit, moments of staggering insight, humor born of looking truthfully and joy in the creative process!
The author describes his book as a zany romp/elder fairy tale/ love story.
He delivers all three with a command of the language and a tongue planted firmly in the cheek.
Ayeesha's Autumnal Eyes was a surprisingly humourous romance set in Santa Barbara. After reading the first twenty pages, I was hooked. The who dunnit mystery piece kept me turning the pages.
